In order to give the leaders an opportunity to talk to the nominees, the church election will be held on Sunday, December 15, following our morning services.
Congratulations to Levi and Jess Gardner on the birth of their new daughter, Zoey Marie, on December 9. She weighted 8 pounds, 7 ounces and was 20 inches long. May God bless you all.
Our Christmas Eve candlelight service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on December 24.
2014 Daily devotional books will be available on Dec. 1. Large print paperbacks are $14.00, and regular paperbacks are $8.00. You may, however, take a book even if you feel that you can't pay for it; we want everyone to have one who wishes to read a devotional message each day of the year.
Roy and Penny Peterson are planning to make a trip to Washington, Illinois, to deliver and distribute blankets for the victims of the recent tornardo there. If you would like to help, you may bring new blankets to church and give them to the Petersons to take to Illinois. Your help is appreciated.
The ladies are meeting at 12:30 on Wednesday afternoons to make useful items for the homeless. Please join them as they work to help others. You may also help them by making the items at home if you cannot come to the Wednesday afternoon meetings. They would still love to have your help. Thank you!
Narcotics Anonymous (NA) Support group meets at the church every Monday at 8 pm. Everyone is welcome.
Jack Maxey is teaching the book of Romans in the big classroom off the foyer. Joe Brown and Bernard Houlehan have begun a new men's study by Kyle Idleman in Roy Peterson's Sunday morning classroom. Amanda Boberg has begun a new women's study by Beth Moore, and Roy Peterson's class is studying the Gospel of John in the library. There are also children's classes for all ages. In addition, we have a fellowship meal for all who wish to attend at 5: 30 each Wednesday.
Wednesday night's meal: Dec. 11: No meal, "Journey" dress rehearsal. Dec. 18: Pot Luck. Dec. 24: No meal, Christmas candlelight service at 6:00 p.m.
The "Journey" will take place this Friday and Saturday, December 13-14. The program will run from 5-9 p.m. each evening. Individual tours for each group will take approximateluy 30 minutes. This is a spiritual outreach from our church members to our community and far beyond. The "Journey" blesses us, and we offer it humbly to those who wish to participate in the real story of Christmas.
